Search engine optimisers * search engine optimisation * optimising websites for the search enginesSearch engine optimisation is the Rubik's cube of website design. If you do not know how each major search engine works, it is best left to specialist search engine optimisation companies. This is because, like a Rubik's cube, a website can be messed up by interfering with any face (web page) to try and make it search engine friendly. Correct search engine optimisation is like making a chair. One leg too long or broken makes the website useless and the more you try and equal the legs, the more unstable the website becomes. In reality, there are very few search engine optimisation companies who understand the search engines. Most search engine optimisation companies make wild claims but are unable to deliver high search engine rankings on competitive searches. Most search engine optimisation companies try to gain higher search engine rankings for their clients by trying to copy what they see on websites that the search engines favour. They are like chimpanzees mimicking the actions of a human being - nothing more. They have no real understanding of what they are doing or why the search engines still don't rank the website they have supposedly optimised. Mimicking another site doesn't work for the following reasons. If you were a car designer, would you steal the design of a Ferrari, throw in a Lamborghini gear box, chuck in a Porsche camshaft, a BMW engine, Ford pistons and Jaguar wheels and expect to get better performance. Of course not because nothing would work properly because they weren't designed to work with each other. The same applies to website optimisation. If you want a website to be highly ranked by the search engines, you need designers who understand exactly what they are doing, design everything from scratch so that everything fits, functions in coordination with everything else and delivers top performance. Not a website cobbled together by monkeys. Let's dispel a few myths about search engine optimisation. No search engine optimisation programme will ever be able to achieve what human search engine optimisers can do. Search engine programmes cannot think for themselves. Search engine optimisation is not complete without the provision of relative deep content. Search engine optimisation is not complete without the provision of integrated relevant links. (Home page portals, variable networking dynamics and optimal keyword chains). Generic domains set up to drive traffic to a website will only provide a short term solution that may cause search engines to penalise a website. Correct search engine optimisation involves corrective surgery to a web site, not superficial band-aids and go faster stripes which is what most search engine optimisers do. The former will provide a long term solution, whilst the latter will produce results until your competitors employ a decent search engine optimiser to knock your web site off the top slot. The cheapest solution will always end up being the most expensive in the end. Keywords and Meta tags are just a small part of Search engine optimisation. Good search engine optimisers know this. |
